Annual Stockings for Soldiers Drive

SoHu’s Annual Stockings for Soldiers drive – 2022 – The 15th Annual Stockings for Soldiers drive is under way.   Donations deadline is December 2nd.  We will deliver the stockings to the V.A. In 2010, SoHu and greater New Haven sent off 125 stuffed stockings for the Stockings for Soldiers Drive.  In 2011, we  sent 100 stockings to our wounded troops. This holiday season help say Thank You to our wounded troops by donating items for stockings that will be delivered to troops who are in the West Haven VA Hospital. We are accepting your donations from today, November 07, until December 14th.  People can also donate a pre-stuffed stocking!  If you are donating a pre-stuffed stocking, please label it if for a female soldier Appropriate items for donation are: DVDs, CDs, Walmart and Target gift certificates, body lotion, Microwavable popcorn, soap/ body wash, puzzle books, tooth paste,  tooth brushes, decks of cards, Mouthwash, individually wrapped snacks, paperback books, deodorant, pens, stationary, magazines about sports, cars, motorcycles, Readers Digest, Time, People, Vogue, Women’s Health etc, hair brushes, lip balm, tweezers, shampoo, conditioners, shaving cream, razor blades with a minimum of THREE blades (very important), hand made cards or letters (unsealed), board games like Yatzee, Jenga, or other games you think are fun, nail polish, boxed tea, wool hats, scarves, hats, socks and baked goods. Christopher Martin’s Homeless and Underprivileged Thanksgiving Dinner Please donate: Blankets * Warm Clothes  * Toiletries Non-perishable food items -canned and jarred goods, pasta, cereal, etc   These items will be distributed to the needy on Thanksgiving.  Christopher Martin’s will also serve the folks a full course Thanksgiving dinner .

Christmas for our Veterans If you are interested in donating towards a Christmas stocking, please consider these items: Personal items: Socks, shaving cream, toothpaste, tooth brushes (Individually wrapped), deodorant, bars of soap, don’t forget our ladies (about 15% of our force is female), hand lotion, chapstick, knit hats, puzzle books, pens. Snacks: Candy bars, hard candy (life savers, fire balls, etc), granola bars, jerky, small snack bags of chips, cheetoes, pringles, chewing gum, crackers i.e. peanut butter, Cheez-its, cookies, May I suggest sending some Holiday touches Christmas music CD, headband antlers,  candy canes, and a hand written note/Christmas card(s).  If you have children, hand made cards and drawings would be GREAT! Please do no wrap the items, but rather label the stocking Male or Female.
