SoHu’s Annual Stockings for Soldiers drive –2022 – The 15th Annual Stockings for Soldiers drive is under way. Donations deadline is December 2nd. We will deliver the stockings to the V.A. There is also a link for you should you want to donate cash towards items. 2014 – We will once again partner with St Bernadette school to bring stockings and Christmas cheer to the troops in the West Haven VA hospital. In 2013, we decided to give to the local soldiers in the West Haven VA Hospital. We partnered with St Bernadette school in New Haven and Amity Middle School in Orange. The students at Amity collected goods and then stuffed stockings. The students from St Bernadette brought a choir to the VA Hospital and sang Christmas carols and patriotic songs to the warriors, and then helped hand out the stockings. 2012 was the best year yet! We sent 144 stuffed stockings to our wounded troops! Thank you to everyone who participated, especially to Amity Middle School, King Philip School, and St Bernadette’s grade school. In 2010, SoHu and greater New Haven sent off 125 stuffed stockings for the Stockings for Soldiers Drive. In 2011, we sent 100 stockings to our wounded troops.

Christmas for our Veterans If you are interested in donating towards a Christmas stocking, please consider these items: Personal items: Socks, shaving cream, toothpaste, tooth brushes (Individually wrapped), deodorant, bars of soap, don’t forget our ladies (about 15% of our force is female), hand lotion, chapstick, knit hats, puzzle books, pens. Snacks: Candy bars, hard candy (life savers, fire balls, etc), granola bars, jerky, small snack bags of chips, cheetoes, pringles, chewing gum, crackers i.e. peanut butter, Cheez-its, cookies, May I suggest sending some Holiday touches Christmas music CD, headband antlers, candy canes, and a hand written note/Christmas card(s). If you have children, hand made cards and drawings would be GREAT! Please do no wrap the items, but rather label the stocking Male or Female.
